Goblet of Fire Movie - Harry Potter Wiki

'HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE'
---Directed By: Mike Newell---

The Goblet of Fire [movie] - Harry Potter Wiki

The Goblet of Fire [movie] - Harry Potter Wiki

It's one of my favorite movies in the series because...

  • It concentrates not only on the supernatural aspects of the novel but also the teenage growth of the characters and how they are developing as people, as well as wizards.

It's one of my least favorite movies in the series because...

  • As with all the movies, some of my favorite parts were left out.
  • Of all the films, it felt the most rushed, with obvious narration gaps where you could tell material from the book was cut (Quidditch World Cup, anyone?)
  • They left out Dobby, Winky and Fred and George's Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. Dumbledore becomes an angry person, he is supposed to be forever calm and serene, that was really disappointing, I must say. Honestly, it should be in parts to fit in as much detail as humanly possible. 2 hours and 18 minutes does not do 'Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire' justice whatsoever.
  • The movie was simply too choppy. the director seemed to just want to string together as many events as possible and then cut out whatever he could to make the movie length as short as he needed too. Especially compared to the new movie, which seems to have streamlined the storyline into a cohesive movie.
  • They left out the dementor's kiss creating a huge plot hole. Barty Crouch is simply sent back to Azkaban, ( which makes the wizarding corrections system seem ridiculous, they did not know that they had an escaped convict on the loose for a year?) and he is another living witness to the return of Voldemort. The ministry does not even bother to interrogate him, it was all madness.
  • May I ask a question? Instead of having Harry battle the dragon for like, 20 minutes, why not add some story into the film so it makes damn sense? That's my question.

Ways the movie version is better than the book...

  • Added some parts that were'nt in the book that I thought were cute, i.e. the dancing scene.
  • I kinda preferred that they took Marrietta Edgecombe out of the story, I never thought she was necessary and the book never really explained why Cho was and remained friends with her.

Ways the movie version is worse than the book...

  • There's not way they can capture J.K. Rowling's magical storytelling in a two hour movie. Not their fault, just not possible.
  • No quddich (sorry cant spell) world cup :( as with all the films no Peeves

HARRY HAIKU REVIEWS
The books are epic-length and the movies are marathons. Think you can sum up their essence in a haiku? Dare you to try! (Remember, a haiku is a three-line poem with a 5-7-5 syllable pattern, and it doesn't need to rhyme!)

Good as a movie
And as a Harry Potter
movie. Finally.

Though Dan hasn't hit
A growth spurt, we see that he's
