'HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX'
It's one of my favorite books in the series because...IT was too long
- ... it sets the darker tone for the remainder of the series. Professor Umbridge is a great villain--very sadistic. Plus, Fred and George's flight from Hogwarts is easily one of my favorite scenes from the entire series.

You can finally tell that the trio is growing up and forming minds of their own. They want to help, they want to fight, they know so much more than the adults around them are willing to let them show. It is so reminscient of real teenage life, what with trying to figure everything out around you, wanting to be involved with more adult things, HUGE tests, and the choice whether to do the right in certain situations. At this point in most tennage lives we deal with someone like umbridge, and deal with things like taking out our frustrations on our friends even though we really dont want to. Also, from an entertainment standpoint, the battle scene is the best written actions sequence I have ever read, and is more exciting than most special effects-y films. It really delievers the excitement and the awesomeness of a huge battle that most action lovers crave. - Because it is so cool - On one hand, Fred and George are up to their mischief. On the other hand, Ron, Hermione and Harry are growing up. I love this book because it is so well written. when Bellatrix killed Sirius, I almost cried! It was the best book in the series so far. That Umbridge woman seriously needs a wardrobe makeover. She is so foul, but it is just part of the amazing ride!
- I love the emotional story of Order of the Phoenix - Harry's relationships with Dumbledore, Sirius and Cho. The development of Neville's role in the story. The tensions and evolving relationship between Ron and Hermoine...This is Harry's brooding teen angst time and JK Rowling captures it splendidly. Plus the introduction of some great, great characters- Bellatrix, Tonks, Umbridge...
- the character of umbridge is so delightfully evil, and I love how they rebel against the ministry of magic. Also, the fight at the department of mysteries is awesome to read!
| It's one of my least favorite books in the series because...
- It's so long and Harry is moody throughout all of it.

(I like it long and Hermione and Ron deserved wat they got whoever wrote that above!!) I hate it wen Sirius dies!! - sirius is dead :( The Dark Lord is at power and umbridge takes over hogwarts
- The book is too long--I don't mean that there are too many pages. I mean that there seems to be a lot of boring information and events. While I was reading it, I tended to forget what was even going on. Now I will say that the battle in the Hall of Mysteries was fantastic!
| | - I was really disappointed in the movie towards the end, where *SPOILERS* Sirius dies. I felt like they never really dealt with it, it didn't really show Harry's emotions. It was really unresolved for me, in that it felt like it was unimportant. It was all about the big showdown with Dumbledore and Voldemort. I felt like they played it down, and we didn't see Harry experience any anger or regret or sadness really.

I agree with the above comment. Also, I was disappointed that the OWL exams were not shown in more detail, especially the practical exams. Some comical stuff happened there...even if they had shown it in a montage, it would have been better than the single scene that was included. Also...100+ educational decrees? That's overdoing it a bit, even for Umbridge... -
Sirius's death was the biggest screw up as far as I am concerned. Did the spell kill him, or the veil? In the book it seems like the veil did. It just seemed so WHAT?! WAIT, WHAT HAPPENED? you know? -
harry didnt shout like he does in the book!! What? Are they toning it down so Danny doesnt hurt his voice?? OMG and they ruined da whole scene in the ministry-Ron (rupert) was supposed to be savaged by a brain!!! And Luna Lovegood isnt as weird as she is in da book!! Oh and what about the part where CHO CHANG told Umbridge?? It was meant to be Marriette Edgecombe who did it!! NO FAIR!! - The Hall of Mysteries battle wasn't nearly as exciting as it was in the book. And . . . Voldemort's part was soooooo shaved down during the battle, it's a wonder the producers could even talk Ralph Fiennes into appearing in the movie! I agree that the whole Sirius "death scene" was badly executed. It was confusing--I am not sure how someone who didn't read the book could know what was going on. I didn't like that the movie made Cho the tattletale who helped Umbridge find the Room of Requirement. And it is just me, but is Emma Watson NOT growing as an actress? Rupert Grint is something of a natural (dating all the way back to his appearance in the first movie). Daniel Radcliffe has gone from being a joke (Saturday Night Live did a Harry Potter spoof, suggesting that Daniel was so boring as Harry in the first movie, the part could have been played by an inanimate object, like a mop) to being quite commanding on the screen. What has happened to Emma? She's adorable, but her acting is basically a series of eyebrow raising and the same voice inflecting that she used when she was 11.
| I wish they had filmed the part in the book where... - they see the brains in the thought chamber
- The above lol!! And when Harry Takes Cho Chang out to Madam Paddifoots!
- ..i definitley think they should have put something about the Quidditch season in the movie cause Ron deserves some credit for being keeper....i think they also should have had a bigger scene with Grawp and him liking Hermione alot..
- Quidditch- Harry's ban, the brains in the DOM and the individual battles- the movie makes it seem like the D.A. got away so easily. The interview to the Quibbler. Kreacher's role in Sirius' death. The rest of the prophecy (especially Neville's role). More of the Order of the Phoenix and the headquaters- esp. Mrs.Black. Fred and George's swamp...
- i wanted to see mrs black and what hapend to Marriette Edgecomb she wasnt in the movie at all
- WEASLEY IS OUR KING!! Poor Ron, he has been so jipped.
- And does anybody remember this little character named DOBBY? I know he isn't crutial, and by nixing him they have allowed Neville a larger part, but I miss him!
- AND Buckbeak... again not crutial but it would be nice to see him again.
- The entrance to Grimmauld place was too odd. Not what I expected.
- Sorry my last character I am mentioning, Pigwidgeon! The little critter has not even been mentioned.
- I don't know what section to put this but i though Helen Bonham Carter was EXCELLENT as Bellatrix. Perfect.
- Gilderoy Lockhart and the Longbottoms.
- I agree with everyone about the Quidditch and "Weasley is Our King", because it would have been a nice comic relief. Plus, so many of Ron's great moments are not put into the films. I just hope that in HBP and DH movies they add a little more of Ron.
- I was so excited to see St. Mungo's. Alas... it wasn't there. Same with Ron kicking butt in Quidditch.
