It's one of my favorite movies in the series because...
- When compared with the other movies made so far (1-5), Cuaron's creation is the most self contained and coherent. The missing revelation of the Marauders aside, a Harry Potter newcomer could watch this movie and not feel the obvious storytelling and narrative gaps that are so prevalent in the other films. That is to say, if one hadn't read the book, one wouldn't be able to point out at what points content was lost in adaptation.
- Alot of people didn't like this movie because of how much darker it was than the first two but that is what I loved about it. Alfonso Cuaron is an excellent director and really made this movie his own.
- i loved this one i liked ron and herminoe being a couple as well
- Without this movie, Harry Potter would have stayed in the golden, treacly realm gaudily done by Columbus. I'm glad that Cuaron took the lead and really made the series his own, as well as paving the way so that other directors could do the same.
- Aesthetic elements of this movie are highly influential on all films that followed. These include the darker tones, the location and look of Hagrid's hut, the castle's exterior (bridge, courtyard, swinging pendulum, etc), introducing the dressed down look for the kids, and the look of the playgroundas well as various other structures.
- Like said before this movie makes sense even if you haven't read the book and Cuaron manages to make it much darker than even the book portrays.
- Basically, it was the best film because it flowed very well. Alfonso Cuaron didn't seem to rush the story (much like GoF and OotP did), and didn't load the movie up with too much of the little sub-plots and little events as an attempt to please the book fans (like SS/PS and CoS). As a reader, I was a little disappointed that so much was taken out, but as a movie fan I loved that even though so much had to be taken it out it was still so great to watch and a story that flowed very well. Best acting from Emma Watson in this film as well.
- I felt Cuaron' up to date, has been the best director for the Harry Potter movie series. Cuaron did not only stick to the book! but he improved some things. Like the whole thing on how Hermione travels through time. It was completely Bloody Brilliant!
- it was a good movie but where is peeves in all the films???! how will order of the pheniox do without him
- This is one of my all time favorites from the series of the movies.
- It was JK Rowlings favoirte movie. She says in the special features section that there are aspects in this movie that hint on things that will happen in later books. It's just fantastic!
- Fantastic visuals. The characters came to age in this move.

I got confused at the end to much happend. -
I thought that Cuaron did, infact, make this movie his own, when it was not his to make. He tried to make all it edgy and new and exciting. Ok, great, but the book already had a dark and mysterious plot. Simply following the story, ( with movie limitations of time, etc, ofcourse) would've made for a great film. I just thought it down right SUCKED. My least favorite movie, hands down. And I hope like hell that Alfonso Cuaron doesn't direct the last film. There is no way he could ever do the final installment to this series justice. He'd make it "his own". No thanks. I'd rather it be a director that stays true to the fans. -
The head in the Knight Bus-what was that for? What did that add? And Dumbledore is completely opposite now. He's not quite thin enough, doesn't have the long skinny fingers, and doesn't have that twinkle in his eye. Richard Harris was Dumbledore, and always will be. And I just overall didn't like it as much as the previous two. Favorite book and least favorite movie. |
